CHRISM MASS

In view of the Covid restrictions still in place, the Chrism Mass, which traditionally is held on the Wednesday evening, will now be held on

Maundy Thursday morning, 1st April, at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral.

The Wednesday evening Masses in the parishes will therefore not be affected this year.

The Maundy Thursday evening Mass in each parish, will continue as normal, with the exception of the ‘Washing of the Feet’. The traditional extended adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in every parishes will not be held. Instead, immediately following the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, the Blessed Sacrament will be venerated for a ‘Holy Hour’, to allow the faithful if they so wish, to spend some time in personal prayer. Afterwards, the churches will be closed for the night.
