ANNUAL MEETING OF EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
4th May 2019 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Event Navigation
Last year, it was decided that all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion of the Diocese will be formally commissioned in their resepctive parishes during the Mass of the Corpus Christi.
Through this official commissioning, the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion receive permission from the Bishop to minister in their parishes for the period of one year.
Given the small extent of the Diocese, they will also be permitted to minister outside their parishes when invited to do so by another priest, or if circumstances genuinely necessitate this.
Prior to their commissioning, especially if new to the role, the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are invited to seek instruction and training from their parish priests, so that the best of liturgical standards can be maintained throughout the Diocese, as the Blessed Sacrament rightly deserves.
His Lordship the Bishop would like to continue the custom of holding a meeting before the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned. This will be an opportunity to meet socially and encourage one another. It is also a good annual opportunity to pray together with the Bishop and receive some input to assist in their own personal formation for the role.
The next meeting will be on:
Saturday 4th May
from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Please contact your Parish Priest as soon as possible and he will confirm the venue and register you for the meeting.
It is important for all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to attend. With this advance notice, the Bishop hopes that everyone will be able to make it to the meeting. He thanks all the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in our Diocese for their wonderful service of charity in assisting with the ministering of the Eucharist at Holy Mass, to the sick and those housebound.
