This chapel is in the heart of the Catalan Bay Village on the east side of Gibraltar, overlooking the sea. The Church’s statue of Our Lady of Sorrows is carried in procession to the Catalan Bay beach each 15th September when the Bishop of Gibraltar blesses the sea in the village’s main religious festival. On Good Friday the statue and another of Jesus in death, is carried in procession along the Village. It is the only procession of this kind in the Diocese during Holy Week.
