As a result of the land reclamation and the houses subsequently built in the area of what is now Varyl Begg estate, Fr. George McGrail acquired an area for the building of St. Paul’s Church. Shortly after completion, it was given the status of a parish in the 1970’s, by Bishop Rapallo.
